Gulf Oil Spill

People like to compare the gulf oil spill with hurricane Katrina. In my opinion, they are not comparable. No matter how bad it is, hurricane Katrina is a natural disaster – it is how nature works sometime. However, the gulf oil spill is a pure man-made disaster and the result is irreversible. Look at the picture and it is easy to understand that it is a crime!

For god sake, if you don’t know how to stop it, why the hell you start drilling at the first place???

dragon

Actually I watched the movie last weekend…

First of all, I think the Jordan IMAX theater is amazing! It’s a full IMAX theater (you know what I mean if you’ve been to those renovated from the traditional movie theaters) with tempur pedic seat and under-seat speakers. In addition, the ticket is priced the same as the ordinary movie ticket and you can get a tour of the furniture store. I watched Avatar in this theater too. What an experience! I remember to wait in the line for 40-minute in Island of Adventure to watch 10-minute 4-D movie. Here in Jordan IMAX, I had the same physical thrill for more than two hours. It’s remarkable! Highly recommend!

So after I heard everything good about ‘How to train your dragon’, it became a must see at Jordan Imax. I wasn’t disappointed. To watch the dragon flying, I feels like I was flying with the dragon. I really enjoyed the sequence where both the boy and the jealous girl ride ‘toothless’. The final fighting scene is also very cool!

But I do have some comments regarding the story:

I was a little bit confused initially when all the small dragons joined with the vikings to kill the monster dragon. Shouldn’t be all the dragons a big happy family? It turned out that all the smaller dragons hate the monster dragon because the monster dragon would eat them if they failed to bring enough food. OK – we all read stories when we were little that a bad king would be killed eventually by his people. I have no problem to accept this united force between the dragons and the vikings.

But I do have problem after the small dragons are ‘liberated’ by the vikings. Now they have to be friends with the vikings! Hold on a second – do you remember the movie Madagascar? At the end of that move, the lions and the penguins became friends on a lonely tiny island, which means the lions had to eat sea food together with the penguins. They had to kill their fellow friend – fish! Same thing happened here when the dragons and the vikings became friends! The vikings petted the dragons and fed them with fish. So if the lions can friend with the penguins, and the vikings can friend with the dragons, why they have to kill the fish? They all should become vegetarian and eat grass!

Finally, what made he laughing and laughing about the movie is how the boy reveal his secret (which is the movie all about). The boy has this very unique personality which is completely ‘abnormal’ for a macho viking to have. Then he met his dragon and they secretly became inseparable friends. His father eventually found out the truth and felt so shameful! “You are not my son…”, he said. The boy then worked so hard and the father eventually changed his opinion. He even risked himself at the end to save the boy’s dragon friend. The movie basically ended with ‘Son, I am so proud of you!’…Well – I guess this is probably how it will go if a little gay son comes out to his father. I just keep on laughing about this!

Any way, these are just my thoughts and I think it’s a great movie.

Happy Chinese New Year! Miss friends on FB so much! Wish everyone has a successful Year of Tiger! :) ))

2010.2.4

I don’t think I can access facebook from China but I am glad to find out that I have no problem to reach my website and I am sure facebook will get the note imported.

A 30 hour flight is hard work to finish. But it’s a great experience. One moment I was on the red line to catch the flight and the next moment I was riding with my parents on the street of Kunming. Another good thing about the long flight is that it is so long that I don’t experience any jet leg. After a short sleep, I came to a small town about 100 mile south of Kunming and it’s a surprise to find internet in the room.

I will post more pictures after I get a chance.
