(A fun picture to look at! See how many air planes are waiting for landing?)
It seem like I really don’t have anything to think about except for my work. I am so behind to update the journal. The Fall came! Early this month, many people from Koch Institute went to the retreat. It was a fun trip and lots of knowledge to learn!
I came back from Florida last week! Can I have more trips to Florida? Thanks Ning for everything! I am trying to put up all the pictures to Flickr before the Octorber slip away!

I started to use microscope to image cells. To people that have always been in the biology field, it’s really not a big deal. But for me, it’s such an exciting moment.
One reason is probably because I am so into ‘taking pictures’ of the world that we are living in. My specialty has been using scanning tunneling microscope to look at the atoms and chemical reactions on a solid surface. Imaging what a tremendous experience it is to watch the behavior of atoms! I dive and take pictures of animals under the sea that were the most mysterious to me since I was a child. I couldn’t imagine what a moment it is to encounter them. Now I can do more in my job by looking at cells and taking pictures of them. To me, it’s a whole new field to be revealed.
But I think it’s more than that. It’s the curiosity and love from my heat to the nature that make me excited. I still remember when I was a kid, I raised tadpoles and watched them to become frogs, caught dragon flies and looked at their remarkable eyes and stayed overnight at my grandparents’ house to watch how cicada turned from the nymph. I am excited because this curiosity can be fulfilled in my work. How much can we understand of our world, how far can we go to make things work, and how deep we can dive in to see more? It’s just so much fun!
